Something I read today...

We enjoy warmth because we have been cold. We appreciate light because we have been in darkness. By the same token, we can experience joy because we have known sadness....

    And conversely- I'm much enjoying the cool breeze right now after too much 90+ degree weather.

    along that line....I heard once:
    Sorrow is the tool that hones out the vessel....giving us a greater capacity for joy.
