Always look forward to my Monday morning musings with you. We are back from another weekend away. Considering the Chairman and company rarely leave home, being gone two weekends/row is big news. Anyway this time we went to see special people who we love dearly and cooked unbelievably tasty food. I wish I had a picture to show you of them, but I don't. I was too distracted with the box of baby kittens.

Yes, cute as cute can be. So I'm going to ask a very
loaded question. It's kind of like asking others opinions if you should have another child. But not quite. Anyway, one of the MYP really,
really wants a cat. Here's the opportunity. Should we??? Please realize, that we will probably make the decision ourselves, but positive/negative experiences and thoughts welcome. He's in the second picture and his name is already "Simba" according to what I hear.
Since the lyme disease struck, I'm not near as casual about the feeling of things crawling on me. I leaped out of bed several times before I went to sleep last night convinced a tick had returned. BTW, it was a wood tick that did it. According to the doctor, they now carry it as well. So beware!
And yesterday was Mother's Day! I could get all schmaltzy about how I love our MYP and love the fact I get the privilege to mother them. But I've done it before, so I will spare you this time. Since we were away, I completely forgot to get a picture of them with me until we were in various levels of switching to casual clothes. So this will do because it is reality.

One Sunday best, two casual, and one bathrobe for Mother's Day picture! |
I took a couple of the MYP to school early this morning. In my bathrobe with a very messy bed head. All of the sudden one of the MYP is horrified when they look at me. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? Then she says, 'look behind at Mrs. So-and-So in her car. She's all dressed up pretty and has earrings on and look at you! Yes dear. I was going to give a little lesson on being beautiful from the inside out, but didn't think it would fly at that moment.
So Mr. Chicken Farmer kindly came and tilled up my garden. The promise of 70 degree days and a bright sun has me thinking I need to start planting my goods. So off I go. But first, I must get out of my bathrobe...
Yeah, that is a loaded question! I'll just say: Cats are different than dogs! As if you didn't know that. Make of it what you want! ;)
ReplyDeleteI've been hearing about wood ticks and Lyme disease. I made Dad show me his bite... and it looks suspicious. I'm going to create a conspiracy with Mom when she gets off work... eek
For what it's worth, I wouldn't have chosen cats as pets when our girls were young (we had 1 wonderful dog, 1 cockatiel and 1 rabbit over the course of the years) -- but we did get adopted by two adorable kittens at different times and both turned out to be a good thing. However, they were outdoor cats... no way was I willing to have cat dander invading our living space and, as it turned out, daughter #2 was allergic to it anyway.
ReplyDeleteCats are sneaky and dogs are so not!!
ReplyDeleteMale cats can have.....bad habits, ultered or not, the odor is, well, ummmm, anyway difficult to rid of "if" the male should ummm, leave his scent. We are enjoying our female for now, so far so good, but we are adapting her to the great outdoors and the canines. She may or may not stay in doors.
ReplyDeleteI like cats, I don't like dogs. When I was a kid we had cats that were let in and out all day long and slept out at night, no litter box needed. It seems to work well. Now, we have cats all over our 5 acres and the pain is that I'm too soft not to feed them so they don't kill the mice, and the neighbor's cats come to have kittens here. We have had one cat in the house (with litter box) for a little while, the main problem was the litter box didn't get changed often enough, and it was male, (see above comment). I don't smell cat smells, the kids don't mind, but my husbands has super-sensitive smell, and he says "No cats in the house", so while our daughter would like one, and I wouldn't mind, he trumps, (since we can have cats anyway, just outside.)
ReplyDeleteOk, I admit to lurking without commenting. Until now! I think the expression is, "Dogs drool, cats rule!" My opinion, adopt a kitty, maybe two kitties. I have 3 cats (2 outdoor / 1 indoor) and 1 dog (German Shepherd- age 11). The dog was supposed to be outdoors, but somehow moved in... I'm sure you can appreciate how that happens. I've found I really like having both, my girls like both, and fortunately no one's allergic. They add some extra cleaning, but they're worth it. So, hope this helps the cause!
ReplyDeleteWe've had lots of house kitties over the years--and I really didn't mind (preferably female!!) but I finally called it quits on house animals. Right now the outside cats are fine along with an outside dog & maybe someday we'll have just the right house & I'll have enough ambition to accommodate an indoor cat again.
ReplyDeletelove all the bathrobes happening at your house. i need a good mid weight one..my heavy is way too heavy for summer/ the light..well..i wouldn't call it a robe even..something in between would be nice...but, then maybe i'd not get changed out of it!
